Must sees

The Megalith of Bouery, Pot Bouillant, valley of "la Benaize", "Saut de la Brame" or  "Monts de Blond" are the most representatives sites of haut Limousin. Nature

Old stones and megaliths in "Monts de Blond" whisper their legends.

The 'Gartempe' river, a famous fishing area, is a great spot for anglers with its lively and clear deep stream. Lake Saint-Pardoux, a real "inland sea", is nestled in the heart of the Limousin forest and spreads its 330 ha in the middle of green hills.

The Haut Limousin is an ideal place for hiking with its marked trails suitable for walkers, mountain-bikers and horse-riders. Its natural environment is perfect for all leisure activities. Small ponds and rivers are a fishing paradise. Picturesque villages frame small country roads, ideal for one hour to one day bike rides.

Heritage

Bellac, Châteauponsac, Magnac-Laval, Mortemart and Montrol-Sénard are beautiful villages. Their history can be read through their monuments. Pure jewel of Romanesque art, the collegiate church of Le Dorat is the largest in the Limousin (77 metres long).

 

 

Events

The Haut Limousin loves culture, music and theater: four big festivals take place in the area every summer : "Les Nuits Musicales de Cieux", the "Festival National of Bellac", the "Festival du Haut Limousin" and "Zicanouic".

Craftsmen and artists share their talent and passion, opening their workshops and giving lessons.
